CHINA, Pengzu Sustainable New Town

This 13 SqKm riverfront site has been protected by river-edge continuous 3 to 6 meters high dyke promenade which at some locations hides the views to the river and the eastern horizon. As a sustainable new town integration of the dyke system and existing scattered local villages were the major challenge.

After evaluation of the villages a number of them were selected to create and continue the green and traditional texture within the neighborhood system. Special architectural vocabulary were established to engage with the variations of dyke system and introduce unique architectonic urban images for the visitors and the residents.
