TONG ZHOU BAY, FRESHWATER TO SALTWATER TRANSITION COMMUNITY, NANTONG BINGHAI, JIANGSU PROVINCE

When Tuan Jie River, meets the bay area in Jinagsu Province , farmlands meet the ocean and the new site of BinHai Industrial Park/ New Town is located. Farmers traditionally create fish farming ponds, taking advantage of Tides Dynamism. Aerial images are saturated by these elongated cell shaped landscape of the fish farmer ponds. A new dyke-road integrating with islands and interconnected lakes is proposed as a designed reclaimed waterfront land. Water flow is designed to be naturally filtered by wetlands and released with lesser contamination to the sea and environment, creating new opportunities for fishing industry as well as new water-friendly communities. Existing windmill towers at the edges of fish farms demands a low density residential compatible with wind energy infrastructure. Farm-house modules, floating structures, wetland parks are considered in this design.
